Questions

What artists ask first.

Your name and contact details, then your education, solo and group exhibitions, awards and grants, residencies, collections that hold your work, and press. List each section newest first, with the year, the title, the venue and the city.

A resume sells your employment history. An artist CV is a record of your practice: shows, awards, residencies and collections. Galleries, grant panels and open calls read it to see where you've shown and who has backed your work.

List what you have: group shows, open studios, online exhibitions, art fairs, commissions and any training. Leave empty sections out rather than padding them. A short, accurate CV reads better than a long one full of filler.

Most gallery submissions and open calls ask for a statement, and often a bio and a cover letter too. Brushly's Gallery Submission Package writes your statement, cover letter, CV and exhibition proposal together, from your own work.
